Hempel's North Asia headquarters is located in Shanghai, with a total of 3 factories (Guangzhou, Kunshan, Yantai) and 11 offices (Beijing, Dalian, Qingdao, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Xi'an, Tianjin, Chongqing) in China, as well as 11 inventory points. It has developed into a well-known supplier of industrial protective coatings, marine coatings, container coatings, and architectural decorative coatings in China.
Hempel's China company was formerly known as Hempel (China) Co., Ltd., a joint venture established in 1992 between the Danish Hempel Group and Hong Kong China Merchants International Company. As early as the mid-1950s, Hempel was already active in the Chinese market, providing coatings for ocean-going vessels, laying a solid foundation for future development.
After a century of celebration, Hempel will embark on a new journey towards "Excellence". In China, with the establishment of "Hempel (China) Management Co., Ltd."—the North Asia regional headquarters, Hempel continues to mobilize all employees to fulfill its commitment to customers and fulfill its responsibilities as a corporate citizen.
Research and Development Capability
Hempel Group is committed to becoming a leader in coating technology, with 4 main R&D centers located in Copenhagen, Denmark; Barcelona, Spain; Darwen, UK; and Guangzhou, China, as well as 11 regional R&D centers in the USA, Bahrain, Singapore, South Korea, France, Germany, Kunshan, China, and India.
Hempel Group invests heavily in R&D for the China market, with a team of dozens of researchers. They conduct coating analysis and development work for customers in marine coatings, industrial coatings, container coatings, and decorative coatings. Through continuous research and development and training, Hempel can timely provide innovative products and solutions to customers.
Production and System Certification
Hempel maintains high standards and strict requirements for product quality. Most of the raw materials used in the 3 production plants in China are imported and can only be used after being tested and approved by the group.
At the same time, all factories have passed the international standard ISO 9001 quality certification and strictly follow the ISO international quality standard procedures and the group's internal quality management policies to ensure that customers in different regions receive the same high-quality products.
Safety and Environmental Protection Policy
Hempel places great importance on safety and environmental protection issues, actively taking on international and domestic safety and environmental responsibilities. By formulating relevant policies and taking practical actions to support related work, it aims to reduce the negative impact of production operations on the environment.

In terms of health, safety, and environmental protection, the company has achieved results, with all 3 production plants in China having passed ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. The focus of the ISO 14001 standard is on environmental protection, while the focus of the OHSAS 18001 standard is on employee safety and health.
